My Plans for a Bridal Shower

I am so excited to be throwing a bridal shower for one of my greatest friends, Kristen! Her wedding colors are plum and white. I have been searching online and through so many blogs for some super cute ideas. Here is what has inspired me this far...

I will start with dessert! I love the idea of ice cream in a mason jar--
we do live in Texas and it has been 100+ for almost 2 weeks y'all!

The next thing I was planning on doing was to have a "Wish" frame. I will be posting a tutorial on this later this week. This will be a great memento for Kristen to keep and read later on. However I am still hunting for cute paper for this project! I will keep you posted on this one!

Onto favors... have you guys seen Bakeat350's blog?!? Well if not, please go right now! It is absolutely amazing and I plan on making cookies as the favors. These will look and taste like a million bucks-- just wait and see for yourself!

As for the menu, we are doing girly foods... like sandwiches and salads. I plan on ordering the food from Trio Cafe. The sandwiches and salads are to die for! I will have more on the menu later this week as well. ( wait isn't it already Wednesday??? Maybe more next week then!)

Check back for more on the shower plans... it is going to be one beautiful shower!

Friday's Summer Showoff...

It's Friday and that means... SUMMER SHOW OFF here @ sixty-nine oh! four.
Today's party is all about your summer mantles! I have seen so many beautiful mantles floating around blogland and I cannot to see what you have to share! Grab a button from my sidebar and link up today with your summer mantle posts!
Here is a before and after of our mantle... It needed more of a "white" color scheme to lighten things up for the summer. Our entryway has changed dramatically over the past few months. Take a look...

Here is what our entryway looked like when we first moved in. I loved the red table and I just had to have it. That idea faded really quickly and I wanted more of a shabby look.
So, we did a little rearranging and too this mantle from our bedroom and moved it into the entryway. We slapped up a few frames and let it be. (yuck)
Luckily that did not last long, how hideous was that?? Then, this week I got to work. I spray painted a couple of candle holders, bought some fresh flowers and made 1 trip to Hobby Lobby for a special message. Finally, the mantle has been spruced up and seems a lot more like me!
Now onto the linky party...
link up here ladies & enjoy!

Father's Day Ideas

Father's Day is right around the corner... June 19th is the big day! I was browsing online and in magazines to see what I should do this year. Technically I have 3 dads-- my dad, a step dad and a father in law. I love to bake sweet treats for them & from what I can tell they do appreciate getting them as well! Martha Stewart has some great ideas for handmade cards. I plan on making each of my dads a card and a mason jar full of sweets! Here are step by step directions to a handmade card courtesy of marthastewart.com.

A shirt and tie are a traditional gift for Dad -- a card to match is something new. Use legal-size (8 1/2-by-14-inch) decorative paper.

1. Place paper facedown. Fold in half vertically; unfold. Line up left edge with centerline fold, and crease; repeat with right edge. Unfold, and lay flat.

2. Fold top-left corner in to line up with outermost crease, forming a triangle; repeat on top-right corner. Using index fingers and thumbs, pinch together outside points of each triangle so they meet, and crease.

3. While still pinching triangles, fold down top edge (this will make sleeves).

4. Turn paper upside down, and flip it over. Fold down top edge 3/4 inch.

5. Flip paper over. Fold top left and right corners so tips meet at centerline.

6. Tuck bottom edge under collar, and flatten by creasing. For the tie, cut out an 8-by-1/2-inch strip of decorative paper. Knot paper. Snip close to knot on one side; trim other to a point. Glue to shirt.

ENJOY!

Summer Show off at Sixtynine oh! four

I am trying to be a good blogger and venture into hosting a linky party! I created a button, although I do not think I did it exactly the right way. So without further ado... Get ready ladies for a fun Summer themed linky party happening each Friday in June. Below is a schedule of events! If you are my follower, this would be a great a way to get some new readers. Create a post that goes right along with the weekly theme. I will choose a few of my favorites each week and repost your great work and give you the credit you deserve!

I know I should have a button for you to to copy and paste that will link back, but I CANNOT figure it out. ha ha ha... So, for now this is what you have to copy and paste on your post, please add a hyperlink at least with Sixty-nine oh! four written somewhere, anywhere!

To begin, this week's party is all about recipes! Please share your favorite poolside recipes with all of us! The linky opens on Friday and will stay open for an entire week. If you cannot join us this week, try next week's party. The theme is summer patios!

THANKS & Happy Linking ladies!
