Show us your life... ALMA MATERS!

I love Kelly's Show Us Your Life link parties. I find so many new blogs there and I enjoy reading each and every one of them! Today, Kelly is hosting an "Alma Mater" party! So, without further ado...

I am a Texas Tech graduate. WRECK 'EM! Taylor and I both went to school at Tech. That is where we met our freshman year. We actually lived in the same dorm. he lived on the boy's side and I, obviously lived on the girl's side. Our little group of friends became very close over the year we lived in the dorm and that is where it all began.... Taylor was a Sigma Chi and I was a Zeta Tau Alpha. Our lodges were neighbors on Greek Circle.

Taylor graduated with a BA in Political Science and I graduated with a BS in Education. We love Lubbock and the entire Texas Tech community. It is a great place to visit and was an ever better college town!!

Here are a few pictures from what we like to call the "Glory Days." Enjoy :)

Welcome to Lubbock Y'all!

Be Mine?

Last Valentine's Day was our first as a married couple. Needless to say, this year is just no big deal. We were out of town all week because of a death in the family. Today was my first day back to work and it was our Valentine's Day Party= chaos. I placed Taylor's gift in the fridge(adult beverages), along with some chocolates-- Walgreen's v-day special! I am he will think it is the most romantic and perfect Valentine's Day ever. We'll see! I hope you all enjoy today and I ready to get busy in this house and post some more things. I need to get my booty in gear and conquer that New Year's Resolution list. But, for the time being...

Bathroom Reveal

For those of you that read our blog, you know that we have been snowed in & sick for 8 days straight!! I have only left this house once or twice a day to just run up the street for a quick trip. Because Taylor and I were getting a crazy case of cabin fever we decided to do a little bathroom remodel. It started out with the idea of painting. Our house is pretty plan in the paint department because we were so limited in choices from the builder. Anyways... on to the bathroom-- here are some before pictures.
We chose to go with a dark, charcoal kind of blue color-- I already forgot the name!
So, our first step was painting the room. Obviously, we are not professionals but we are pretty proud of how the paint job turned out. We will have a little bit of touching up to do this week, but I am impressed to say the least.
After the paint came the decorating. We made a trip to Hobby Lobby in the ice/ snow mix and were able to pick up a few pieces to add to the walls. In this bathroom, we ONLY had 2 pieces on the wall: a large 'A' from Anthropologie and a black shelf. This room was lacking character and I think we have succeeded in adding some to it finally. :) Drum roll please...........................

TA-DA! A bathroom with some character :)

Snow Day 4 & Still at home...

Today is officially my 7th day to be stuck at home! I am not sick anymore-- it's that weather that has me trapped! The weather has been nonstop & today was a beautiful snowfall, instead of a pelting sleet and rain mess! Here is what we woke up to this morning...

Taylor had to go to work today... his tire marks and footprints are all you can see in the driveway. It has snowed about 5" since midnight and underneath the beautiful is a sheet of ice from the past 3 days. Needless to say we are ready for some above freezing temperatures to get rid of some of this mess! Cabin fever has set in and we started a project to cure it.

Here is what we have been up to this week...

That's right!! We are re-doing our guest bathroom! I gathered some decorations to get started, made a trip to Hobby Lobby, then a trip to Home Depot for the paint. So, here is a sneak peek at the first true DIY project that we have taken on. Our house is about 7 months old and this is the first room we have painted, so far--so good!

Sick Day 2 & A Snow Day...

Today was a major winter storm! We woke up to the sounds of pelting sleet, along with thunder and bright flashes of lightning. Although, I had already planned on missing work-- I was anxiously watching the news reports starting at 3am for any sign of a school closure! Thank goodness school was closed today -- because I left no plans for a substitute. That also meant I got a "free" sick day!! Here is a video Taylor took of the sleet around 4:30 this morning... The only thing you can hear is the wind, unfortunately there was not a thunder boom!!

After the sleet came the snow, which is now SOLID ICE! Here are a few pictures!
