All White Decor...

April 16-30, Holly at 504 Main is hosting a party with the DIY Club to show off your all white decor. I wanted to participate, and was thinking I had a lot more white in my house than I really do. Our master bedroom is mainly white/cream/tan-ish... So I thought I could join the party!

This week at my house...

I would like to introduce you all to the newest member of our dining room family:

Please ignore the huge mess on top. Taylor's law school graduation is just around the corner and I have been writing out mailing addresses all week long! I am going to jump for joy when that job is complete.

Then we, well Taylor, will be moving right into Thank you cards! I am in the midst of planning the big celebration meal afterwards at our house! So far-- these all look like great ideas!

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Party Hats

I made the CUTEST party hat for a little girl last week and I wanted to share it with you all! I am not the best at tutorials so hopefully this will make sense! This party hat was for a 9 year old.

Materials:

8 1/2 x 11 Scrapbook paper-- choose according to your theme

hot glue gun and at least 1 stick

feather boa-- again choose a color according to your theme

A headband

Felt

To begin, you need to draw the outline of the cone on paper. I googled a template, that was easy! I found one on http://www.craftathome.com/. Next you need to glue the cone together. Then trace a circle on the felt ( I used chalk) and cut it out. The felt needs to be glued on the bottom side of the headband so that it sits on the hair. The cone will then be glued on top of the felt. Lastly, I trimmed the cone with pink feather boa! That added just the perfect touch!

Enjoy!

The perfect birthday party accessory!!

Let's walk in... here is the entry way!

Moving right into the living room...

And next is the dining room / kitchen...

Guest bathroom... We recently did a little bit of work in this room. We are slowly but surely adding character to each room. See more on the bathroom here.

Across the hall is the laundry room...

Guest bedrooms... Please note that these rooms are a MAJOR work in progress! I look at all your blogs for my inspiration.

This rug was the first purchase for our office/ guest room. So far, I can only show you the rug and color palette.

And finally, here is our Master bedroom and bathroom...

Headboard.. or a door-- whatever works!

And that's all folks! Check back often for updates and DIY projects. There are quiet a few underway as we speak or type. Have a great weekend!

American Idol Recap

I am an American Idol junkie... I will admit that. I do not miss a single episode. My DVR is full of AI and on a busy week, I will fast forward through the contestants just to hear my favorites which are---

#1 PIA

#2 PAUL

#3 LAUREN

via

How could you not think Pia is amazing. She gives me chills each week and I think she is beautiful. Paul is totally awesome and a concert of his would be a blast. Lauren... she is so young and fun! I want to do good. I religously vote for these 3 each week. Who is your favorite idol contestant this year??? Who is your favorite past contestant???

Master Bedroom Dresser #2

We got a new dresser yesterday and I wanted to share some before and after pictures. Our first dresser (read more here) is my favorite piece of furniture that we have and it was my first DIY project, so I am a little attached. We were running out of room and needed a bigger dresser so we spotted this beauty at our local antique store and were able to snatch it before anyone else!
Before (Please ignore the cords)

After (Cord cover is so much better)

The best part about this dresser is the size. It has 3 more drawers than our other one. We don't fell so crammed in the bedroom now. The mantle that was our TV stand is now being moved into the entryway. Be sure to check back for that re-do soon!

Moss Letter Tutorial

photo: potterybarn.com

Have you all seen these lovely items for sale at Pottery Barn? Well, I am loving them and have made 1 similar item. I plan on making more and I hope to decorate my back patio with a large A for Anderson, of course!

This item is sold for $79.00 at Pottery barn-- holy moly-- that is a lot of money! I found a similar way to recreate this item for less than $10.00! Here is how I did it.

First, I bought a wooden letter at Hobby Lobby for $1. That was 50% off that week.

Next, I bought the reusable moss by Super Moss Brand. I traced the letter onto the moss and cut it out. Then, I used a hot glue gun to stick the moss onto the letter.

VIOLA! My very own moss covered letter for 85% less!

This W was used as a centerpiece at a Texas Style Wedding Shower!
