Around the house...

We have now lived in our house for 10 months and to be totally honest, not much has changed.  I just spent yesterday actually organizing (unpacking) our closet since September.  That's bad! But overall, we have added our personal touch here and there.  Here are some before and after pictures of our living room.  This room has taken the most time, money and energy to get it to where it is now.  It is NOT in any way complete.  It is far from that, this room needs a lot of TLC!

Before (these pics are from Zillow, and show the previous owner's furniture)

Needless to say.... our very first project was wood flooring!  That funny shaped carpet area was considered the living room.  It was so small and nonfunctional.  We knew that having one type of flooring would really open up the space... and were we ever right!

The floor was a fairly easy process.  We spent the night away on a Friday, after they worked all day and we were able to come back home on Saturday evening.

Things were pretty dusty and it needed a tad bit of sprucing up.
Before we began flooring, our first major purchase was a couch.  This was MUCH HARDER than it seemed.  We went through 3 before finding the one.  Luckily, the store we purchased from had a 72 hour return policy without having to pay any type of restocking fee.  Thank goodness!

After the couch and flooring came the small things, rugs, side tables, pillows... we are still working on lamps and gallery walls and mirrors and all that fun stuff.  With time, it will all come.

The most recent project we did was paint.  Pinterest really helped us on this project.  We knew we wanted a grey color for the living room walls.  I love the way it looks with the dark floors and light baseboards and crown molding.  So, we went with this:

We did a few samples on the wall and then chose our favorite.

Painting a wall really adds character to a space!

The living room has definitely gone under some changes sine we moved in!

Bathroom Reveal

For those of you that read our blog, you know that we have been snowed in & sick for 8 days straight!! I have only left this house once or twice a day to just run up the street for a quick trip. Because Taylor and I were getting a crazy case of cabin fever we decided to do a little bathroom remodel. It started out with the idea of painting. Our house is pretty plan in the paint department because we were so limited in choices from the builder. Anyways... on to the bathroom-- here are some before pictures.
We chose to go with a dark, charcoal kind of blue color-- I already forgot the name!
So, our first step was painting the room. Obviously, we are not professionals but we are pretty proud of how the paint job turned out. We will have a little bit of touching up to do this week, but I am impressed to say the least.
After the paint came the decorating. We made a trip to Hobby Lobby in the ice/ snow mix and were able to pick up a few pieces to add to the walls. In this bathroom, we ONLY had 2 pieces on the wall: a large 'A' from Anthropologie and a black shelf. This room was lacking character and I think we have succeeded in adding some to it finally. :) Drum roll please...........................

TA-DA! A bathroom with some character :)

Snow Day 4 & Still at home...

Today is officially my 7th day to be stuck at home! I am not sick anymore-- it's that weather that has me trapped! The weather has been nonstop & today was a beautiful snowfall, instead of a pelting sleet and rain mess! Here is what we woke up to this morning...

Taylor had to go to work today... his tire marks and footprints are all you can see in the driveway. It has snowed about 5" since midnight and underneath the beautiful is a sheet of ice from the past 3 days. Needless to say we are ready for some above freezing temperatures to get rid of some of this mess! Cabin fever has set in and we started a project to cure it.

Here is what we have been up to this week...

That's right!! We are re-doing our guest bathroom! I gathered some decorations to get started, made a trip to Hobby Lobby, then a trip to Home Depot for the paint. So, here is a sneak peek at the first true DIY project that we have taken on. Our house is about 7 months old and this is the first room we have painted, so far--so good!
